According to Richard Kruspe-Bernstein, Rammstein is pop music. Metal-pop that is.
"Rammstein is metal and pop," Kruspe-Bernstein said via A.J., the hard-working interpreter. "I think we're the first group to combine metal and pop."
Let's just say the metal aspect of Rammstein outweighs the pop.
Rammstein is currently on a tour of America in support of their latest CD "Mutter" (for the non-wise, it means Mother in german, not the english mutter).
One vital element is something that transcends any type of music, the show itself. Rammstein is becoming notorious for a pyrotechnic-filled presentation that features flames coming from everywhere.
"We try to keep the music and the show in balance," Kruspe-Bernstein said. "If I see that people are coming to the show just to see fireworks, I would quit doing it. I'm a musician. I create, compose and play. Effects complement the music."
For the record "flames coming from everywhere" also means it usually comes from the bandmembers themselves. If you've never seen Rammstein onstage, you're in for a treat. They make Manson look tame. Seriously!
Richard is a lot deeper than I thought that a member of Rammstein would be. It's definitely a different side of Rammstein that you'll be reading if you click here.
They do have some english songs but they NEVER talk english. They're german so why should they talk english ? most of their songs are in german aswell.
Gotta have respect for that :)
At least they're not ignorant, they just want to stand out.. and they are doing a great job with that!
