General Privacy Policy.

We believe that everyone in the world should be kept to the same standard of rules.

Curlio.com strives to comply with the "Children's Online Privacy Protection Act". This means that we do not allow users who are 12 years old and younger to create an account on curlio.com - either from America or outside.

Registration

In order to be able to use all of the features of this website, a user needs to register with a valid email address. Not all email addresses are accepted by curlio.com due to abuse of certain domains. The following information is needed to create an account, username - can be any name that is not occupied yet, password, and your email address. After creating an account an email will be sent to the email address that you supplied with an activation code. When activating your account you agree to this privacy policy.

Cookies

To identify you as a user that has logged in we set a cookie on your computer. This is a small file with data which is stored onto your computer by the browser. This cookie is related to your username on curlio.com. You can reject cookies, however you will not be able to use any accounts while rejecting cookies from curlio.com

Other sites might try to set cookies as well. These can be our partners, or any of the other users by linking to their own site. However we have no access or control over these cookies. In most browsers there is a setting to refuse third party cookies on any website (which is very handy!)

Log Files

We log various things, including times that you visited us, from which IP, with what kind of browser, which pages you visited, and if you posted anything on the site. This information is used only by curlio.com for security issues, law related issues, create general statistics and generally to cover our own ass.

Sharing

We will only share information with Law-agencies when they show us the proper documentation. Our partners(if any) will only be given general statistics.

We might do some statistics of users. This will never include their personal information, just their username and the general statistics (like number of logins, number of posts etc.).

Personal information will not be given to anyone, unless you yourself fill in one of the "public-information" fields, like AIM, YAHOO, ICQ, Public E-mail address. These fields will be viewable by other logged in members (non-members are unable to view these lists, therefor they will also never end up on a search engine). No-one is forced to fill out these fields, and a person with an active account can alter or change this at all times. If a user is frozen and wants their information removed they can email curlio.com from the email address that the account was created and then an administrator will remove the personal information from those fields.

Curlio.com does not sell email addresses to anyone. Neither will we spam you with countless numbers of email. The only emails from us you will recieve will be your activation code, and your password should you choose to use the lost password feature.

Dutch Privacy Law

Dutch laws force us to provide a service of giving ALL stored information about a user when that user asks for it. We will give all the information after it is requested along with proof that you own that certain account (email for details). Also a small fee of € 10 has to be paid to curlio.com. The information will then be sent by postal mail to the person that requested their own information. The law also forces us to remove any personal information when requested, this might, depending on the amount of work, be subject to a fee aswell.

As a newssite we have links to many other websites, we are however not responsible for their privacy practices or for their content.

Interactive

Users are responsible for their own messages and opinions they post. These messages do not reflect the opinions of curlio.com staff. If you disclose any personal information be aware that it might be collected by other people.

Security

We try to keep all your information as safe as possible, however the internet can never be 100% safe. Be aware of this when you put personal information ANYWHERE on the internet.

Freedom of speech

Everyone has freedom of speech, however curlio.com is owned by someone other than the general public, and therefor we retain the right to modify, alter, or change anything. Use the proper netiquette and we won't have to change anything you submit to the site. Offend someone too often and your account might get frozen.

Acceptance

By creating an account and/or using curlio.com you accept our privacy policy. If you do not agree with this policy do not use our site, do not create an account.
